@atlasboogie well i think if we take this seriously that we can assume it isnt as simple as that. Think about what it is meaning- contact with another civilisation, the long game might show its best to let the race in question (us) go as far as we can.

From what I understand--I make no claims for myself, just based on what I've read--there may be constraints on how they let themselves deal with us. Partly for us, partly for their sake; maybe b/c of agreements with our government. In some respects, the UFO phenomenon makes a lot more sense if you think of it in terms of covert contact by a species wary of showing too much of themselves, or causing panic here. Like Star Trek's Prime Directive--try not to upset the natives.
