Smashing Pumpkins: Tarantula - 3rd place winner

This video was shot and edited in 5 hours for The Smashing Pumpkins Tarantula contest. SP gave their fans the chance to use their green screen footage from "Tarantula" and create their own music video. Out of over 60 entries, this was the third place winner by Ryan Webber.

This was a great video. I love videos that tell a story.  I actually felt sorry for the guys involved w/that girl. I love the scenery. Where did you film this at? Maybe could have used more band footage. Overall, great job!

Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate it! I wanted to take the video back to an older style pumpkins that would let the viewer tell the story and interpret which ever way they'd like. The video was shot in and around Grand Rapids, MI. If I had more time to work on it, I would change the cuts speed it up a little and let it flow with the music a bit better in some places...

Good concept! Its a little slow in the dynamic, but given more time and resources, I could see this going somewhere!

Thanks! It was a hard concept to develop, there are some things I would have liked to do however with a 5 hour shoot and only 3 rented wardrobes there wasn't to much more to be accomplished.. my alternative ending isn't so PG. ;)

I'm actually kind of surprised that this didn't win... or at least come second place. It's a really good concept and much more Pumpkinsy than the original. Kinda reminded me of the music videos for Zero, Thirty-Three and Stand Inside Your Love.

Though, I reckon you should've kept Jeff, Lisa and Ginger in it... or at least Jeff and Ginger and Billy playing during the solo part. Other than that... it's a top vid.

i think you could have won, but one had to bring the pumpkins themselves more into view (there's a bit too much of you i think) a great vid, though and i appreciate your work ( i just dont think the jurors did..)

I think you should of tried to put in the other two members. but it was really good looking without all the over use of the other people. especially that one really big guy who looks like he can't even play guitar playing at the end.

I dig this video. You definitely nailed the "if it's a white hot soul they want, then its a black heart they'll get" motif. Well done. I agree the tempo of the filming doesn't mesh well, but the themes are well spotted.

Yeah this one should be the winner. For sure. It doesnt focus mainly on the band the entire time and thats what I didnt like about the original.

This is by far the best video, it is absolutely amazing! It defiantly deserves to win, it is wayyyy more original than all of the other submissions! I love it!!!
