Jailbreaking laws effect more than just iPhone. If you want the ability to root your devices, play mods, or do other aftermarket hacks to your software, you really need to show your support for the EFF in their fight to keep jailbreaking legal.

Whether it's patching a security vulnerability or homebrewing video games and apps, people who own smart phones, tablets, and video game systems are finding inventive ways to use and improve their devices. Often users need to gain full administrative access, through a process known as "jailbreaking," to innovate and take advantage of the device's full potential.

  • Fixing an xbox red ring of death is pretty easy.

  • the xToaster...

  • @hunkashoo Geohot or none of the well know jailbreak developers endorse piracy whatsoever. They are all actually very much against it. However, that is of course its primary use.

  • Jailbreaking and Open source hardware FTW, also dd-wrt and other custom firmware ftw

  • @42DangerVision If you purchase a product that contains software you do not own that rights to the the software/firmware if the licensing agreement forbids modification. This rule companies made to protect them-self against piracy , or if another companies was to make Free, or low cost software/games/firmware that was better it may create deadweight loss that could cost companies millions in lost sales of apps/games.
