  • Knuckle dragger!

  • She should keep her,"I've never been proud of america" ass there....

  • @PurushaDesa - Well the happy ending is that a mixed race person has risen to the most powerful office in the world and as a person in a mixed race marriage, who obviously supports total equality, that is something very important. I think we should learn from history but it is wrong to point fingers at anyone alive as everyone involved is dead. We need to leave all that in the past and get along as one race - the human race.

Hah. So a happy ending of sorts for the Obama-Robinson family trees. (I say of sorts because progress takes time, and that won't be any consolation to those already oppressed, and now dead and gone.)

  • @PurushaDesa - I forgot to point out an interesting irony in that Obama's white ancestors are said to be slave owners while his wife's were slaves. Obama's family were never slaves.

  • @PurushaDesa - I've never heard this but if it did happen I think "many" is an exaggeration. My father told me he was a teenager before he saw his first non white person and that was an Indian in Bradford. This was just before the second world war so as he lived in Leeds and Bradford as a child there were clearly few in these cities. I never asked him when he saw his first African. I know Elizabeth I thought there were too many working in London and ordered them removed.

Perhaps I overstated the parallels between British and American involvement in the Triangular Trade - for that I'm sorry. But I'd still maintain it's not totally without merit. Sure there have been Africans in Britain going back as far as the era of Black Centurion soldiers on these isles, however as Labour MP Diane Abbott puts it, many were taken out of the standard slave locations and used as "personal servants" in Britain. Not quite the same but hardly freedom either.

  • @PurushaDesa - I may be wrong but this comment seems to be suggesting that black people were brought to the U.K. as slaves or against their will. This is not the case and pretty much all black people arrived in the U.K. in the 1950's when we had a labour shortage after the war. So they were invited here to work and came very willingly. The U.K. did take part in the slave trade but non of them came to the U.K.
