This commercial was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

After a successful release in Canada during the mid 1960's, the product was introduced to the Australian market and then went worldwide.

The product was re-introduced to the Canadian and USA markets in the early 1990's. Although the packaging was updated, the product itself remained the same.

K-tel still receives requests today from people who are looking to buy the Vegomatic, or to purchase replacement cutting blades for the unit that they have been using for over 40 years!

I still have an original Vegomatic, they are still made but the cutting rings are crap, they have plastic around blades, the original one was metal all the way around.

I had the Popeil Pasta Maker. It worked about a 1/2 dozen times, and then the unit just cracked and split into pieces while I was running it. I thought it might explode at one point, but I was just laughing so hard, I didn't care. Never bought another Popeil product after that.

I agree, but it also brings to mind how screwed up things are now compared to back then. If I had my way I would trade in all the cellphones, MP3 players, video games, etc., for those simpler times.

Sure, K~Tel and Ronco used to market alot of stuff that was straight up CRAP, but the Veg~O~Matic was a kick butt idea. Made making french fries or slicing an onion a snap.
