SailSim is a simulator and teaching aid for dinghy and cruiser sailing. If you have an iPhone 3GS, your iPhone can become a virtual dinghy. As you turn the iPhone (boat) the sails, centerboard and boat speed will change to reflect the new point of sail.
If you have a iPhone 3G, 2G or iPod touch, you simply touch the screen to tell SailSim where the wind is coming from and the boat will adjust to that point of sail.
You can use SailSim with real wind if you have an iPhone 3GS - press the i button, point the iPhone into wind and press 'Done'. This now orients SailSim into wind and can be used to illustrate points of sail with the real wind direction being felt by the students.
SailSim also tells you which tack you are on and what point of sail. It also tells you relative wind angle and boat heading. Wind direction is shown by wind arrows on the screen.
