We all have our own buttons. Buttons which trigger emotional
responses. Buttons we try to hide, or buttons we wear on our
sleeves. The question is, do the people around us push the right
ones?
A group of unidentifiable characters - Others - dressed in
white, move in a circle. At the centre of this circle stands the Self;
clothed in a gown covered in colourful electronic buttons. In an
intriguing dance, we see the playful movement of these characters
as they investigate what it means to push the right buttons. In
this reflective piece, which focuses on the relationships we
construct around ourselves, we can come to understand that the
dance may not always move the way we want it to. And the buttons
we push, may not always be the right ones.
This is my first attempt at film making. It was created for an assignment which required it to be 1 minute in length and containing no dialogue. The film is not perfect, but I am proud of it considering that, aside from the cast, it was a completely one woman job!
Many thanks to Indijika (www.indijika.com) for giving permission for me to use their beautiful music.
Enjoy!
