If you have actually listened to Dr. Hovind at all, or his debates, he does make many compelling points. I think it's apparent that both sides on this issue have thier wackos and thier overzealous over exagerating supporters. Kent Hovind is clear on his stance, he believes in his theory. He mostly points out that evolution is simply a theory as well, and should be tought as such, rather than concluding outright that it is the "gospel truth," without nearly enough evidence to prove it.

Do you knowt what a theory is? It's not a guess, it's an explanation. The Theory of Relativity and the Germ Theory of Disease aren't guesses. Evolution is an explanation of the observed fact that life changes over time.

Hovind "believes" in his theory. So what? Strange as it may seem, there are people who believe in a flat earth. Theories don't need belief, they need evidence. There's literally tons of evidence for evolution. Where's the evidence for creationism?
