North Carolina's "Triangle" region has seen unprecendented growth in the last 25 years. The population doubled from 1982 to 2007, growing to one-and-a-half million people. The population is projected to double again, to 3 million people in another 25 years. This growth has been great for the economy, but we are losing some of the natural features that make this such an attractive region: farms, forests, and open spaces. Triangle Land Conservancy has been working since 1983 to conserve the region's open spaces --more than 10,000 acres to date. The lands we conserve provide benefits to everyone in this region: clean water, pure air, local farms, wildlife habitat, and places for people to connect with nature. TLC has an ambitious plan to conserve 45,000 additional acres in the next 20 years to help balance the growth of the region with conservation of our important natural features.
