Has anyone seen the film The Ghost Train (1941) lately ? It was shown last year at Camerton at an open-air cinema. It's a really great classic, and guess where the bridge is ...
'Specially pleased to see 75006 as there's a good photograph of it with my wife's grandfather at the regulator at Ynyslas in Dalton's ;Cambrian Companionship'
It was the junction where the line from Ruabon to Barmouth met the Cambrian coastline. Ruabon to Barmouth was a mainline, yet Beeching closed it without hesitation, booooo! :(
Oh thank you! Brings back memories of holidays in Mid-Wales in the late 50s/early 60s. Never complete without an afternoon watching the action at Morfa Mawddach and a trip up the estuary to Dolgellau (yes, it is, the first station). The other junction shots with the tank uncoupling and the Manor arriving from Aberystwyth are at Dovey (sic) Junction, where trains from the Coast and Aber used to combine. 7821 is about (2008) to move from the Churnet Valley via Crewe to the W Somerset.
? Junction is in fact Dovey Junction.

Very interesting, it's interesting how large Morfa Mawddach was, considering a total absence of nearby habitation!

I think that one of the shots is Dovey Junction but it was a long time ago when I was last there?
