Chinese new year's day (Feb.03, 2011). Kuanzhaixiang, Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Southwestern China.
Kuanzhaixiang, or the Wide & Narrow Lanes, is a tourist spot in Chengdu, featuring countless boutiques, youth hostels and restaurants. I really liked the handmade accessories (bags, scarfs, etc.) with strong ethnic overtones (sichuan hosts a few ethnic monority groups, including Qiang, which almost faced distinction during the mega quake in 2008).
anyway, this video shows a candy blower at work. this is also a traditional feat by candymen in China. the guy came up with a candy dragon, in case you wonder what the heck he's blowing at
