This is a demonstration of the Happynex Violin Viola support sling, available at Happynex.com. The Happynex support sling can be used with your current setup, with or without a shoulder rest or chin rest.
So how do you put the violin down in long rests or to deal with some pencilling in your orchestra parts? I don't want a viola flapping around when I have two hands full dealing with music, nor do i want to keep taking it off over my head, so how does that work?
@RoseRodent Most use the Happynex in practice and during lessons, or when playing informally. Remarkably, we had one orchestra member who slung the viola around her neck while at rest, leaving it hanging safely behind her! (We do not recommend or endorse this.) If this is an important issue for you, we do have a second method of using the Happynex which will allow you to use the product seamlessly in an orchestra performance setting. Write to us to learn more!
@Happynex Have you done studies to this effect to demonstrate acoustic transparency or is this just based on personal experience with one or two instruments?
We've done subjective and objective testing on dozens of violins and violas. No one and nothing has ever revealed a detectable change in acustic transparancy. Please contact us by email if you'd like to know more.

Does that not have a mute effect on the sound?

@gargoloso Great Question. No it does not have an adverse effect on the tone or volume. Thanks.
