Through out the world, the month of Muharram has stood as a reminder to mankind for the heroic struggle and martyrdom of Imam Husain (peace be upon him), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), against the corruption and destruction of human rights by the tryrant ruler Yazid, son of Muawiya. The procession is held on the first Sunday on the first ten days of Muharram (first month of the Islamic calendar). It starts on 50th and Park Ave and ends on 65th and Madison Ave.
