Imagine a world without electricity, as ours was around this time. You could get gaslight in the cities but otherwise went to bed when the sun went down. The arrival of electricity was no small thing - as this film clip from the Buffalo Pan-American Exhibition of 1901 shows. Just imagine the after-dark scene as if you were there, especially if you came from a household without light at night.
