The Sundowners were a music group from Lake George, New York. The original line-up included Bobby Dick (bass & vocals), Dominick DeMieri (guitar & vocals), Eddie Placidi (guitar & vocals), Eddie Brick (lead vocals), and Kerim "Kim" Capli (drums). They opened for the Monkees famous tour in 67 with Jimi Hendrix. The lackluster sales doomed this single but it makes a good vehicle for Jenni. Enjoy!

  • @garageband66 ~ You know it's funny, 1967 and 1968 were the two best years of my life (born in '47) and yet I cannot recall most of the music you have posted here? I lived music and yet I'm speedless with your music? I grew up in SoCal, I wonder if some of these, perhaps?, were east coast bands? Or is it possible I just don't remember everything from those years which would surprise me but, I guess, is possible. Comments?

  • @MrRonnieG Yeah many were east coast bands. It's hard to find rare west coast band's 45's and such here on the east coast. Although thanks to my cousin Mike in Garden Grove, Ca. I have a few on this channel.

  • The American Breed did this on one of their last albums and it sounds almost exactly the same.

  • Except for the lush string arrangements.

  • 1:13 is still an incredible and fitting photo. This whole video is an incredible body of work.

  • @StanBennet Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

  • Davey Jones died today and I remember this band, The Sundowners, as a back up band to the Monkeys. I saw the Sundowners several times at a club called Gold Street which was located in Garden Grove, CA. and they were amazing. Davey Jones RIP.

  • @kwixotic ~ Although I have no recollection of this exact group or song ~ it still sounds exactly like music that I did listen to, continuously ~ especially in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969 ~ even though I was growing up just S.E. of Los Angeles, my birthplace. I remember the Association's soundtrack to the 1969 movie, "Goodbye Columbus" and I get the feeling, while listening to this recording, that I'm playing THAT movie's soundtrack. It always made me feel young, happy and glad to be alive.

  • @MrRonnieG Like me you were probably at some college and this type of music did not fit into a college atmosphere. Underground stations, college stations did not play this music and that is what most of us, at least in the NE states, were listening to. It wasn't until summer did we listen to Pop and then we heard the lite music of the Spanky's, the Mojo men, Mercy, etc.

  • I too grew up in the 60's and never remember this song or group. But when I heard it, I couldn't help but think of the resemblance to the group, The Association.

  • Whos the model in the video?

  • @davidleigh65 I am the same age as you. I love this music better than now
