this is me playing Kalmah's "Swamphell", there are a few mistakes, and i'm not happy with how the solo came out, but other than that i feel pretty good about this take. also, i keep getting questions about the tuning. "Swamphell" on the "They Will Return" cd is in D# standard (D#,G#,C#,F#,A#, D#) they also use this tuning on "Swamplord". I'm playing the song in D standard (D,G,C,F,A,D) in this video. which is the tuning Kalmah uses during "Swampsong" and "The Black Waltz". C# standard (C#,F#,B,E,G#,C#) tuning is what Kalmah uses during "For The Revolution" and "12 Gauge". i hope this clears any questions on tuning.

  • hell ya man, no question you nailed it and have really good technique but play to the album not guitar pro! it would sound soooo much better! but ya dude 5 stars!

  • i'm in a different tuning than the album, and i use guitar pro so that my parts and the leads are clear, there are so many videos up on youtube where guitarist hide behind the albums and its hard to hear them play it

  • good point, i use guitar pro for the very same reason, I play the songs from They Will Return in D, now for the revolution is in C# and they play all the songs in that tuning, much heavier

  • agreed, i think they're using C# for the new cd "12 gauge" that's coming out as well, they seemed to to keep progressively getting a half step heavier every two cds. the first 2 were D#, the next 2 were D, and now FTR and the new one are C#, cant say i can complain about that, even though i liked it when they played in D cuz it just makes tuning easier for me with having a floyd rose and all

  • so this is in? C#?

  • no, i'm playing this song in D standard tuning, it's D# on the cd, we were talking about how the last 2 cds Kalmah has put out have been in C# tuning.

  • Mad skills. I play in D standard, but I'm trying to work on my techniques. Nowhere near that level yet, but practice makes better lol.

  • That is an absolutely gorgeous instrument you have there, sir.

  • Dude you nailed all those pinch harmonics, you kick ass!!!

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT ! you're the man !

  • Holy Shit. Nice job man. This is one of there more difficult songs but you did a sick job

  • Really good cover and your face while playing looks brutal as hell sometimes haha

    i agree with you that too many people hide behind album versions, however ive tried to learn this song on guitar pro as well and while all the leads are correct some of the rhythem riffs are so off. such as the one at 1:07. you played the solo great, but the rythem held it back from sounding as awsome, oh well, still amazing cover!

  • songs fuckin hard to learn man Good job

  • Guitar pro FTW!!! \m/

  • ++++++
