A day trip by the MJCQ around the Mt Mee area just northwest of Brisbane, 24th February 2008.
Five MB/GPW jeeps and three Dodge Weapons Carriers came along for a bumpy, dusty ride with some steep hills and a little bit of mud thrown in. The previous day it had been 40 C and it was still fairly warm.
The only casualties were a broken rear left axle (I was carrying a spare), a stalled motor from wet ignition leads, a broken shock absorber mount, a minor oil leak, and a vaporising engine in the WC-51. After I went through some mud my folded-down windscreen started making a tremendous squeaking against the bonnet blocks' 'antisqueak' webbing which didn't go away until I put it back in the vertical position.
Everyone had a great day out as usual.
Video was taken by various people on my camcorder. There was much more action than shown here but it's hard to squeeze it into a ten minute clip. Apologies for the choppy audio, I really must learn to do decent sound mixing sometime. Also the sky was very blue but it looks sort of grey and cloudy here after uploading.

  • Were you able to fix the axle with the standard issue WWII Jeep tool kit, or were more modern implements necessary?

  • that would be so much fun! but what's with the confederate flags?

  • Great video

  • damm, thats cool. much more fun than driving modern plastic!
