Relationship with God starts with Prayers

Prayers are the beginning of a Relationship. Even if you are praying for material things, still, because you are praying to God, and not someone or something else, you are beginning a conversation with Him. Prayers are what gets the ball rolling. When you try to use the "Law of Attraction" or "The Secret" to get material things and don't give credit to God for providing them, then you loose an opportunity to create a special connection to God.

I grew up in an atheistic family. The first time I was conscious of God is when my dad said there was no such thing.I thought to myself, "your a crazy man, you think that this is IT?" . I was 6 yrs old. Soon after I started to give up meat and gagged when I tried to eat it. It seemed as if someone was guiding me at that point, like my parents lost their parental rights in training me in spiritual matters. I now recognize that energy because I have met my Gurudeva!!!!!

I came to pray when I had been abused by material nature when my body no longer wanting to live in state of great stress I cry out to god what is this life why am I suffering how do I worship you why is it so hard to know you. Then I find one of Srila Prabhupada's books and I found love of Krishna. And my life gets better all the time the more I know Krishna.

From the stories that I have heard of how devotees come to Krishna, I don't think it matters what language a prayer is in, or if it is spoken out loud or silently. It's so amazing. As far as I understand, when we are unsatisfied with the workings of the world, then we sincerely start to wonder about God. Could you tell 2 words about your first time being conscious of God?
