Aijaz Ahmad describes the Cultural Revolution as a base for the prosperity in China now. This shows how myopic and demented this anachronistic old coot is. No mention of the millions that died during the revolution and the problems facing China today. You must appreciate aspects of Chinese growth but to not recognize the suffering of the past or the problems today, including rampant, fostered and dangerous nationalistic xenophobia. As an Indian this is also treacherous. He's prob. a naxalite to.

Tibetan Gov. in Exile is the legitimate representative body of the Tibetan people, holding democratic elections with universal suffrage. The ICJ has investigated Tibet on 2 occasions. 1st in '50s;finding genocide taking place and that Tibet was an independent state. In 1997 these findings were reinforced by another investigation chaired by Australian High Court Judge Justice Kirby. HHDL has already moved to a position of moderation, people like Aijaz are unrealistic in their demands on TIbetans

Stop discussing.
Just make it straight:
"Free Iraq"? Good job!
"Free Tibet"? No way! Tibet was, is and will always be part of China! That's the will of 1.3 billion Chinese people!

The Chines have behaved like pigs in Tibet since the 1950s - cultural revolution anyone? - with documented killings and torturings. The Chinese people have been brainwashed by their government for decades. If the Chinese had been treated by a foreign power like the Tibetans have they'd be fighting back as well.

peaceful!!!?????Who said that?

In fact any tourist who had gone to China should understand that minority tribes enjoy more benefits than the chinese themselves and china one-child policies do not apply to them.. extinction of tribes are what Chinese government is afraid of, China is konwn as the most culturally interesting places where long history is preserved.

Love you name Stumblefuck.
I'm not sure why the fact that human rights abuses happen in every country makes protesting the atrocities in Tibet, or anywhere else, a bad thing.
The incident with the Panchen Lama involves the disappearance of the child who was the original, and replacing him with another chosen by the Chinese. Your beliefs are irrelevant.
And I just love your comment about the cold war. It's completely asinine. Just in case anyone was taking you seriously, Stumblefuck.

Just look at Kosovo, for instance. The western world applauds the new Kosovo state. But Serbs are thinking "WTF happened? Albanian muslim migrants just took over a huge chunk of our country?"
CIA hasd been heavily involved in Tibet during the Cold War. Don't be naive and think the Cold War doesn't continue today. For chrissakes.

Well, I support atheism (or should I say anti-religionism), sorry. This reincarnation crap is just that = crap. EVIDENCE?
Is what you say the root cause of Tibet's unrest? In that case, FUCK TIBET. If there's more to it, let me know. I will listen.
Don't talk to me about "human rights abuses", because that happens in EVERY country in the world. Tibet is no exception. I don't condone it, mind you. But nearly EVERY country in the world involves some sort of colonialism, if you look into it.

The current Panchen lama was inserted by the government of China in place of the choice previously made by the Dalai Lama. I was simply trying to make the point that most Tibetans don't recognize the Chinese implant as the true Panchen lama, and resent the atheist Chinese government for attempting to intercede with their religious tradition
i fucking love you guys. this is like revolutionary press. you look at corporate news and they're talking about paris and britney. or Hillary and Barack..no difference.
