She was probably just too shocked to notice she still had the item in her hand when she ran away. At least the Dutch still have some sense of shame. If they tried that tactic here in the US, most shoplifters would happily party along with the security staff, stuff their faces with the cake right in front of the camera, and then knowingly walk out with the merchandise not giving a shit.
