PM Aso's visit to U.S. has been covered by U.S. media, which, however, are merely reflection of Japanese media reports. Aso's biggest challenge in Japan is not the economic catastrophe or opposition party's resistance. It is the huge negative campaign engaged by all the major news media in Japan. While tv escalates its bashing on Aso and papers constantly ignores his domestic/international achievements, he is still enthusiastically supported by many who depend on internet for corroborating news sources. His popularity votes online (as high as 56% of www.yoronchousa.net as of 24 Feb, 09) show completely different figures than what media reports (as low as 9.8% as of Jan 09). It is fair to say that a majority of those who do not care for him are heavily influenced and almost brainwashed by the biased media coverages.
