I've added a Seuthe smoke unit to an old Hornby Duchess of Sutherland. I've also fitted a resistor to slow the motor down in order to produce more smoke at slower speeds.

  • great vid, nice loco's but i think you should extend your layout! it will be awesom!

  • Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, there's no space to extend. About all I could do is re-model it to make it look different. :-(

  • It was a really good film with lots of sarcasm... what every great vid needs! a good comedian at the words lol well done anyway she seems alot better than KE1 at being quiet!

  • Thanks Joe, sarcasm is not quite the word I'd use , more like cynicism. :-) But it's great to see someone get the whole joke!

    Cheers!

  • Nice video Tom. Any chance of some shots when she is going slower? Bit blurry otherwise! Looking forward to D2!

  • OK, will do. I ran her fast to simulate a REAL outing on BR metal. You weren't fooled for a second, were you? ;-))

    Cheers

    Tom

  • Looks really good with smoke

  • Good smoke effect, a couple of questions then if I may?Is it Seuthe 22 or 23 and do you you use a resistor with it?Finally what oil do you use as there seems to be plenty of smoke, is it seuthe oil?

    Take care

    Mike

  • Nice work mate

  • Really, this looks absolutly fantastic.

  • Well worth the time and effort Tom. Made me smile. Chris

  • hi tom, i just bought a smoke unit to fit into my hornby steam loco, i'm having a problem where i have run the loco at very high speed to get it to smoke. can you advise on how you got yours to work? what resistor did you use and how was it fitted into your loco?

  • Nice one Tom - I like the cynical comments lol. I had a Jinty which smoked nicely - the room got a bit pongy after a bit though...
