A tour of the Chancellorsville Battlefield from the documentary The Civil War Tour. On April 27 Union General Hooker began his campaign to crush the Confederate Army. Union troops had met little resistance so far in their campaign and arrived at Chancellorsville. On May 1st Stonewall Jackson attacked Union troops on the move east from Chancellorsville forcing them to retreat and form a defensive position near Chancellorsville. In the early morning hours of May 2nd General Lee and Jackson meet and the decision is made to split the Confederate Army and attack Hookers flank. Jacksons troops move out and attack Hookers flank in the late afternoon of May 2nd. The attack crushes the Union flank sending Union soldiers running in panic. The attack is one of the most incredible flanking attacks in military history. Later in the evening General Jackson is wounded by his own troops while scouting Union positions. On May 3rd the Confederates attack again, Hookers plan is crushed and the Union Army retreats.

Civil War music is way overdone in these types of videos. No music at all would have been better.
