  • hi , i just got one of these mesas and i am having trouble setting up the side walls .

we hook up the bedend first and try to flip up the sides and they dont really look like they fit. are they suppose to be attached. i wish some \one would walk me through it

i could not go camping beacause we couldnt get it set up.

    thanks

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Your bed ends may be drooped down and may need to be lifted higher by using the adjustments located at the pole supports. Also check where the poles fit in under the bed, the hooks (especially the older plastic ones) may be damaged.

good luck and let me know how it goes...

  • beautiful trailer. looks like yous is in perfect condition.. a tip on the side panels for the bed area. you should be able to slide it into the trailer about 6" and then slide it into the tracks of the folding roof. . something I noticed from mine. make sure that the frame is not. breaking where the cross members are. my frame split in 2

  • @kary1982v6 I do that with the side panels on my '79 Royal and Ramada. My old '76 Mesa was the same, but on this '72 you can't. The sides are much more flexible and snap in rather than slide in.

    -Bummer about your frame though...

  • How come nobody makes trailers like this any more? It can't be that hard. Just make it from the new space-age composites so they won't rust. One major reason I resisted buying a pop up of any type is that, it doesn't matter what the brand is, they all leak and have to be serviced eventually. It just goes with the territory.

  • Yes, you slide the bed end piece toward the camper, lift it up vertical, then slide it forward into position, not just lift it up and smack it into position. You could break something.

  • If i could find one for 1000 or less.im in idaho.if you or anybody you know has one for sale please send me a message thanks.

  • Hey!! Nice Camper. I have 1976 Mesa!! Just a tip. The proper way to put up the side is to slide them back at a 45 degree angle, bring them up and slide them into position. This way, they'll last longer and you don't have to bend them. Hope it help :D

  • WoW!!! So cool! and I didn't even hear you sware when you were doing it!!! hehe!

  • Hey Sweet Apache !!!!! I have a 79 Ramada.

Before you lock the roof end up, flip the side panels up the set the roof on to them and lock it in place. Those sides will break if you keep doing that.

  • that is different... I Guess that is when Manufactures started wanting things to wear out so that we would replace them.. too bad that there is really nothing like these on the market today.
