All Filipino Folk Dances are stylized for the stage. This rendition is mixed in with balletic movements. It is a good performance nonetheless.
Sagayan is supposed to be trance-like. The warrior goes into a trance as he prepares for battle. The movements are there but I agree it likes the spirit of the village. Something was lost in the translation from village to the stage.
Maybe this will remind people of where this dance come from.
