@raginroadrunner I was also taught to maintain my release hand as close as possible to my face after releasing ...
I have seen the Japanes style shooters moving their hand/arm away from the face after the release, but with a "westwrn style" recurve I prefer to adopt the classic Howard Hill gesture

whats with the release hand flying up in the air???

Good clip Todd, nice to see top shooters under pressure in competition, their form isn't quite as sharp as relaxed practice.
Fita 3D which is shot alot in Europe allows 3 under in Longbow but most still prefer Split, top 5 Longbows at Fita worlds all used Split finger, 3 under makes it easier to aim but a good shot will still nail the target regardless of style.

I appreciate that, I will check it out.
I shoot a ben pearson recurve also, a bit small but I'm used to it now.
thanks for the info.
Take down recurve + carbon arrows = traditional??? , that's just barebow

@cristiflorin depends on your definition, and the organization's rules that you're shooting under. Personal definitions of "traditional" are so varied that they're hardly worth arguing over. If you use plastic nocks, or glass laminated limbs, or modern glue to attach arrow points, the argument could be made that you are not "traditional" either. Nowadays, it's just easy to say "traditional" when you are referring to a bow that requires you to hold its full weight at full draw and has no sights.

The guy beside rick with the longbow!
He seems to be using carbon arrows and shooting three under!
is that legal in competitions there?
Here in Ireland and Europe to compete he must use wooden with feathers and 2 under 1 over.
Just wondering as i prefer 3 under, but can't do it, I shoot much better 3 under.

Depends on the competition. IBO allows 3 under, and this was an IBO event, although this particular shootoff was a novelty shoot with no equipment rules as long as there were no wheels on the bow.
I believe IFAA does not allow three-under in the longbow class. But you could always shoot your longbow in a recurve class that allows 3-under.
