The shock of soaring food prices hit Burkina Faso particularly hard. In normal years, villagers produce enough to take care of themselves. But last year the rains didnt come - until the season ended with floods which destroyed most of the crops. FAO is supporting the government, with a distribution of four hundred tonnes of seed and fertilizer to 1200 families in the arid Center North region.
