I got one to but I don't really have any use for it. I don't like the pictures it comes out with so I just has it stored safely away.

I have that 90-230 Soligor too, inherited from me parents, and I've used it a little with my Canon EOS 20D. Not in macroing however, just ot get 230mm x2 optical.

@scalespeeder Makes sense, the minimal focus distance is different on 90 and on the 230mm. I am yet to buy my first m42 zoom lens so i can't check it out.
Btw. I recently got into the whole mf lenses and I really like your videos.

Could you explain why do you zoom to focus instead of using the focus ring?
When I use m42 primes I have no trouble focusing with extension rings on.

@perodjetlic I think what's happening is that with the extension tubes I have a very small distance upon which I can focus - so by adjusting the zoom, I'm changing the focal length, which means I can change that distance without having to move the camera.
I've found that further adjustment of the focus ring doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
I'm no expert on optics though, so I've probably got it all wrong!

i've seen several screw mound lenses around the second hand shops but didn't know about the m42 lens mount and available adapters ( i use a pentax k mount film camera) i just checked for k mount lenses but i have never seen one yet. i just picked up my first m42 lens, a super takumar 35mm f3.5. i am going to pick up an adapter and be on the lookout for more m42 lenses. thanks for the great video and information.
