  • I might have the same problem. At first I thought it was from my GPU, but since the support didn't fins anything wrong with it, im starting to suspect that it's the psu. Is this harmfull, like, can it somehow cause damgage to anything in the computer or is it just sound?

  • @swedishtraceur i don't know, but my comp is fine apart from this and has been up to this day

  • My sounds the same! Did you find your problem?

  • @peter462 it's a coil whine but i never bothered sending it in, mainly because I don't feel like building the computer all over again.. the whining stops after about 10 minutes so I guess I can live with it. Corsair has a 5 year warranty (I believe), so I might bother sending it in when I upgrade the machine.

  • goddammit. my PSU now does this. i've got a Corsair coming in the mail. every single related fucking video is a Corsair. fuck fuck fuckidy fuck fuck.

  • @BiroDave I feel you bro....

  • my blue sonic 500 watt does the same thing! is there a fix to this?

  • @mtothem1337 i thought they discontinued the original version? mine is V2 and they all got leaf blower fans

  • i bought this and had the same problem, so i took it back to the store and got a different brand, works fine. since i was using water cooling, this was really obvious it was the only thing i heard, was so annoying i didn't use my computer for a week

  • i have the same fucking problem with THERMALTAKE TR 2 600 W!

  • This problem has had no actual negative performance effects for me. I had this issue and monitored the temperature and voltage levels under a stress test and if it weren't for the audible noise I wouldn't have noticed anything at all. I had my PSU for 2 years before it started doing this, I RMA'd it and the replacement made the same sound but louder and more constant... time for a 3rd RMA.

  • yeah yours sounds almots like crackles or sparks, maybe not the same as a tapping sound...

  • i wonder how long it will last? and hopefully wont hurt my mobo? feel so foolish for knocking it over. Anyway it is only really discernible when powering on or coming out of sleep mode, then it continues loudly until i poke the side of the case (in any spot really it doesn't matter as long as it moves the case) or if i just move the case it also quiets down. Then it only starts back once in awhile, but very quietly.

I think it might be a fan... it almost sounds like a quiet tapping noise

  • one of my worst fears happend... i tripped over my PC after cleaning, because i did not position it correctly under my desk and left it sticking out a little. Anyway now my PSU is making a noise similiar to this one. It is a RocketfishGaming PSU 600w peak

Im hoping my funny noise is just the fan, i know it isn't the HDD though this was my first suspicion, since it is coming from the top-right of case where my PSU is and not the bottom-left where the HDD is located.
