Sadly, over 2-3 generations, moral relativism has left us a legacy of rising crime rates, family breakdown & cynicism about once respected public institutions. We DON'T need a return to the past - but it's because genuine Christianity has played a key role in Europe's past that it can play a positive part in shaping the future. It won't be the only voice - but needs to be heard above the din of vacuous secularism.

reason and secular values are the basis for what is good in all cultures; not Christianity, for crying out loud. computer technology, medicine, astronomy, and other sciences are secular and reason-based. religion binds and gags the powers of the mind and body. religion, aka fantasies about the world imposed upon one human by another or others, murders progress. the day religion is wiped off the face of the earth is a day I will laugh with the jubilance of a child born a human, not a slave.
