Raul Julia and William Hurt star in this 1985 film directed by Hector Babenco which explores the relationship between two political prisoners in a South American jail, one a political dissident and the other a homosexual arrested on a morals charge. The film yielded five Academy Award nominations, with William Hurt winning the Oscar for Best Actor.

I just finished reading the book today for school and fell in love with it. I had no idea there was movie. Imagine how excited I was when i say it on netflix XD

As an argentinian man, i'm so proud of belonging to the same land as Manuel Puig, one of the greatest writers we had. "Kiss of the Spider Woman" is one of the sgtrongest texts ever writen, and this movie is pure poetry and beauty about that text.
