If somebody wants to blame a genre for the rise of shitty music its disco. after disco waned hip hop and "shitty rock" broke through, gone are the days when funk, soul and true rock reigned supreme. Having said that there are some good bands out there with that old soul. They will remain underground never making it because too many people hate this music in favour of lifeless repetitive beats and diluted punk

obviously its amazing, but the original recording of hazel is out of this world.

@nubiansista4life....your right! It was Billy Spruill who stated that. Although I do know that, it is Michael Hampton ripping out those formidable guitar riffs. There's one that if I'm. Not mistaken Eddie riff to pieces and if I'm not mistaken it's called "super stupid" Eddie, Michael, black byrd, Glen & Gary those were and are true funk rock guitarist.

@TexasTornado187 didn't billy spruill on p-theory state that it was Eddie Hazel who really wrote "Who Say's A Funk Bank Can't Play Rock".

Good times, Le Freak and not to mention Barry White. Please, close minded? There's quality everywhere. Even the Jonas Brothers have their moments.

Music doesnt it exists in an ongoing state of evolution. Music itself is a an unspoken dialogue that has existed for centuries. What it does through the generations is not "get shitty", as you put it, but changes to suit the needs and desires of different people expressing themselves in unique ways based on their individual temporal (or spiritual) experiences.
Say a genre is shit because you don't particularly care for it, and you reveal what you are, a closed minded person.
Michael Hampton is a great guitar player. Great! I hate the people always try to compare him to Eddie. They are both great in their own right. Eddie's style was unique. On this rendition, it seems that Mike is paying tribute to Eddie. That is the same model guitar that Eddie used to play.

@SSW2424 I don't get it. The soul and emotion of this solo is so arresting and up front, I wonder why people don't hear it?

One of the best renditions I've ever heard. No, he isn't Eddie, but you can't discredit him for what he can play!
