Just the basics for now, scrubbing off the trees/brush and getting a general "feel" for the site. Since it is a slight downslope, I will make 3 level tiers rather than an all level area. When you don't have a laser level, you make due with a level string and long, slow (so you don't "porpoise") dozer cuts. Topsoil will come from the adjacent hillside when the raised beds are in place.
I won't be using this particular spot as a garden area this year, but will be ready for the uncertain times ahead and have made it fairly large (about 7000 square feet) for that reason. Make sure you have your Heirloom seeds!
