A short video on Sustrans and the National Cycle Network in the UK and what it means to me.

I stop at the highest point on the NCN and explain what all the fuss is about.

It's very hilly around the place where I filmed this. I make a big effort to cycle out of Neanthead towards Garrigill. That is one serious hill!

I cycled from Durham to the Lake District and back. If you would like to see my cycling trip in more detail then please check out my previous two videos. This two minute video has been produced as part of my Sustrans competition entry to win a short stay holiday for my family!

Road bikes with good brakes are fine on pretty much all the c2c route. Avoid the off road sections of the route if you are concerned. My bike was only a cheap road bike (£100 new) and it did remarkably well. I warn you, the route is a rather hilly roundabout way to get across country. On the way back from the Lakes to Durham I took A-roads for 2/3rds of the route, but even that was hilly! Make sure that you see my 2 previous video's showing more of the route. Cheers :-)

  • Is this route suitable for roadbikes, or would I need something a bit sturdier? Also well done for getting to the highest point.

  • Good luck for the competition.
