My other difficult posting of the day. Stefan Frankel on violin performing Karol Rathaus' Capriccio for Homocord in 1929 or early 1930. See my other Frankel posting for more about him. The composer, Karol Rathaus (1895-1954), was part of the 1920's Expressionist Movement and was friends with Frankel and Tiessen. Being Jewish, he fled Germany along with Frenkel in the early 1930's. He was one of the first composers to write film music - as early as 1922. He spent his last years as a professor at Queens (NY) College.
This is a remarkable recording, thanks to Homocord we can hear a fine peace of "modern" classical music recorded by a firm who produced cheap records for the common people. The music was probably considered "entartte Musik" and forbidden by the nazis?
