We both have rights and responsibility. I have the responsibility to be a law abiding productive member of society and do my best to contribute, but when coming from a marginalised of disempowered demographic.. or finding myself relgated to something alike.. then there should be the right to expect a system which is on par with the rest of the Westtern world. You have the right to be assured you are not paying for something not needed, and the responsibility to do so like the rest if it is

In the US, it is not the "NeoCon monied right wingers" currently getting all this stimulus cash- it is the left throwing borrowed ( can't use the term- good) mone after bad. Think General Electric,Goldman Sachs, Aig.
Bush did start the proverbial ball rolling, and we here are fed up with both parties spending money we don't have, monetizing the debt and devaluing our currency.

The ppl who own you currency devalued it 70 odd years ago by abolishing the gold standard. Its not just some Gor Vidal or Zietgiest blabberings.. its fact, basically, the system you have now is another initiative of big money oligarchs, they have a dollar sign on all elements of US life.. they like it that way.. they encourage ppl to be ruthlessly capitalist.. but it just cant work for all.. since not all started equal, maybe if black America had gotten thier 4 acres and a Donkey.. though..

..some how I dont think would have been enough. Fact is, theres one group of ppl above all others in the US right now who benefit from your system. Instead of trying to be accepting, admiring and emulating of them, which it seems most strive for, research how they got their and what was done.. and maybe you will you will never get there, and they need reigning in to boot.

It is foolish and naive to judge a leader by his intentions. Moral character-yes Outcomes- no. Just because someone thought he was doing the right thing doesn't mean that he did. An objective analysis is imperative. All too often,we are left to deal with the unintended consequences of those in power. That is why government programs frighten me. Because more often than not, they end up hurting the very people they were supposed to help.

I make no pretense about knowing what the perfect solution is. However, I am certain that the clumsy hand of government is ill equipped to make economic decisions for, or on the behalf of millions of people.

I agree with you in regard to the gold standard. Also the Federal Reserve has been manipulating our economy for a century. Another unconstitutional activity.
this troubles me greatly. That is why I put my trust in the individual rather than any governing/regulatory body.

Apis4, it has been an entertaining and interesting exchange. Unfortunately I must retire now, for I have to toil so that I can feed the behemoth that is Fedzilla! Perhaps our paths may cross again. We can agree to disagree, but hopefully, we won't be too "disagreeable".

I doubt they flee, and I think you need to look at just how much they do from 'those' nations. Fact is there is far more immigration from other countries whic dont have those systems than those which do. Though countries with strong public universal Health Education and Judicial systems are attracting more and more immigrants which might have once been a cert. for chosing the US, because they realise paying a few $ more to get the basics is safer than 'sink or swim' US society...

...where they may or may not 'Make it'.

As for the dictator thing.. thats true, but misleading, as many democractically elected leaders, on all levels of Govt, have run a platform of being for the working classes, and man (or woman) of the ppl for the ppl.. many have actually believed and tried to fulfil this platform, in fact, sme dictators have too, hence the term benevolent Dictator. Truth is, without some strong social supports for the masses, and entrenched greed in certain key filds..

without getting that balance in the distribution of wealth and lessening the disparity between the ppls making ends meet and tose not, with latter slowly growing, and the concentration of wealth in the hands of oligarchs, without getting a majority middle ground society, you eventually breed the potential for the very society you feat to come and take over. As the few get fewer and get more, and the many get more and get less.. then you will the rumblings, which can grow to shake the foundations
