The hotel was double-booked, so the manager kicked some of the "permanent residents" out on the street to free up a room.
We were staying in New York and checked into what we christened "Hotel Armageddon". We had to wait 45 minutes to be given a room, which was horrible. We asked for towels at the front desk, and started filming the manager there. Had he known, he probably wouldn't have told us he'd kicked some drug addicts out to make some space. We were sharing a bathroom with their friends, so we promptly found somewhere else to stay.
Another guest came to complain about the lack of blankets whilst we were filming.
I'm a Manager in a Hotel. God - this guy needs some lessons in Hospitality. If your my guest teedyay, you would be treated like a king!

It was:
Riverside Inn
319 West 94th Street
New York
NY 10025
(The place may well have improved since then - this was filmed way back in February 2005.)
We swapped for the Belvedere down near Times Square. I'd heartily recommend that one - much nicer than you'd expect for the price.
