Testing out my new DCR-SR45, recording my cats (Britney & Bailey). Great camcorder for starters. Even with lots of noise in the background you can still hear me clearly and the touch screen is pretty cool.
I would say no. The camcorder only captures what it sees live. Audio-video out only. A capture card brings audio-video in from another source. I don't know if they have High Definition Camcorders with built in hard drives with AV in as an added feature. It would be a crime if they didn't, They are expensive enough.
you probably need to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 3:4... Honestly, I prefer the widescreen format. I do not own this cam, but I was playing with it at WalMart and I really like it. Most digital camcorders that have a widescreen feature just "imitate" widescreen by stretching the image horizontally. This camera actually expands the frame of the shot.
just bought this cam im pissed salseman was full of crap..I should of looked up more info on the net first video quality just isnt there...never take a salmans word on video quality..get yourself the sony hdr sr 12..it was right there next to this one too :(
this camera is great for new and experienced people i have a JVC HDD camera from 2006 and it sux compared to this it can't take in light anywhere as good as what im seeing with this sony camera and video quality is a bit better
If you don't, the black bars are there because the camcorder records in 16:9 resolution (HiDef), and whatever you're viewing it on plays in 16:10 (wide screen) or 4:3 (standard). It won't be there if whatever you're viewing on has the same dimensions.
But if it's there not because of that, then what the hell is all i gotta say.

The bad thing about the fs100 though is that you need to buy cards.. and the memory cards dont come with the package :(
