Asian Arowana Red Tail Gold Dragon Fish

This is my Red Tail Gold Arowana, about 25"-26". Tankmate is a Marbled Goby about 13". Tank is 5ft x 2ft x 2ft, 150 gal.

Hi, did you have both fish from the start? I had a marble gory and intend to keep 1 arowana, wonder will they fight each other?

Initially, the arowana bit the marbled goby a few times. That stopped after a few days. All is well now.

Is it OK if the aro is half the size of the marbled gory initially? Just worried that aro got swallowed by the gory...

Don't risk it. The aro should be the biggest dude in the tank.

Did you keep him in that 150gallon all those years or did you gradually upsize it?

@PauEdwin It was in a 4'x1.5'x1.5' until it grew to about 12". Then I bought a bigger tank.

nice fish but if the tanks 24" wide & the Arowana is 26" how does it manage to turn around?

It depends on which country you are in. And whether an Asian aro is legal in your country. For an RTG about 6" to 8", it would cost about US$150 to US$250 in Asia.
