What is Crohns disease?
It is a lifelong inflammatory bowel disease. It can develop anywhere in the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus.

My dear and special friend, Jim Jacobs, suffered from Crohns disease. But he had a beautiful outlook on life and still maintained a sense of humor. Id ask how he was doing and hed often reply, "With the Crohns disease, I need a new asshole, but I cant find a donor." Jim often said he was born in the wrong era and would be more at home in the days of Daniel Boone and such. Maybe next time around he will get that wish.

When Jim died, I went to the funeral, but he came to our house to say good by. My young son was feeling bad that day and my wife stayed home with him. She was in her chair reading a book, when our dog started growling. She noticed that the dog was not looking at her, but was in the kitchen now looking up and barking. Elaine stood by the dog and saw, floating in the air near the ceiling, a round white mist about four feet in diameter. The pure essence of Big Jim was emanating from the cloud and blessing the room with his presence. Slowly he drifted out through the walls and was gone.

He is missed so much. Chuck.

I had a good friend. He had a bad need.
We shared a concern til he died to get free.
He loaded a gun. In a lonely state.
Traded worry and fear
For something we living cant know.

When we were just kids Jim Jacobs would take us
all fishing And learning to shoot.
Taught us to track, take care of our tackle
and notice fresh sign in the woods.

Saying Give me the days of ol Daniel Boone, a share of log cabin and lake.
Those simpler times, a peaceful mind. Living good just for goodness sake.

Jims health got real bad. Chrons disease he had.
His doctor said to lose weight.
He wrote Jim a scrip for speed he should take
And that was step one on Jims tumble into fate.

HE NEEDED MORE. HE NEEDED MORE.
.
Jims innocent mind could never realize
Addiction was worse than it looked.
Buying speed on the street, first to lose weight
But after short time he was hooked.

He did not even know that those black beauty pills
Led to high and low valleys and hills.
When he finally quit his mind had got sick
And his eyes could see only tears.
He wouldnt get dressed and came to believe
His family was damned by his fears.

A friend is a friend right up to the end.
We all tried but it never did good.
He wouldnt listen to reason, just knew he was lost
From all cabins, all lakes, and all woods.

When he was alone he went to his room
His hand on cold pistol and brought
Mean steel to his head, and then he was dead
Letting go of last weapon he shot. REPEAT CHORUS AND END

  • hello ayokdoe, thanks for listening and the nice comment, chuck.

  • Hi Chuck,

it was interesting to watch you playing on your acustic guitar in this vid. I could not do this with my little finger. But - shall I tell you a secret? I never use my little finger of my right hand when I play... it only moves along with the middle finger, really :-)

    Nice greetings!

    Anette

  • hi anette, thanks for listening. i usually i don't finger pick at all. but because the story line here is a serious one, i did not want a guitar part that might take attention from the words. be well, chuck.

  • hi paul, yes indeed, he did that with a pistol. no note. he was just so depressed. he imagined he was going to lose his job and that his family would be homeless. he broke a lot of hearts. chuck.

  • hey, LIVE Chuck again! I missed this! great song Chuck. Adios Jim!

Did Jim indeed kill himself? sad.

    Paul

  • good morning curtis......jim really had no

concept about addiction, hardly ever drank a beer. he was a true innocent who, without realizing it, was abusing the speed. when he crashed he entered a deep depression. about thirty years later i purchased a hand made guitar in a local pawn shop. it turns out it was originally built by don milhoan for jim. i told the clerk that i think co-incidence and luck are related. that night i won five thousand dollars on the three digit number. chuck.
