Perfect for PA amplification and live recording of acoustic upright bass, the 4099B offers a sound that is considerably more natural than an internal microphone or pick-up as well as several excellent placement possibilities. Chris Minh Doky demonstrates his DPA 4099B.

  • Hi jazzflea, Great to hear you hear you like the mic. The DPA4099 is being used for many different applications and for some the long cable is great and other it might be a hassle - very understandable. The cable is kevlar inforced and not really fragile. Your comment is registred and will be considered in future developments. Thank you.

I totally agree!! Great mic but broke mine the first day I got it in exactly the way you described! Cable far too flimsy for such a large instrument. That said, I'm going to attach the XLR output to the tail piece with some tape maybe. What have you done with your cable?

  • I love it a great deal!!!! However I do suffer from feed back issues!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use the new Acoustic Image Clarus, lovely tone in deed but when I turn up just to be heard it becomes nasty, so I tent to use it only at home for recording at low volume or level! Any suggestion would be very welcome either on Talkbass forum (timobee4) or timobee6@yahoo.com.au

  • Its all well and good!!! But what do you do with the flimsy cable???? I just coil mine up and attache it to the back of the tail piece very expensive but they didn't consider the cable at all! If you plug the pre amp XLR into your amp and someone walks into it that cable will either snap or brake somewhere! Great microphone but very bad design when it comes to the thin fragile cable!!!

  • One of my favorite bassplayers!!! I love his tone ...and I like his flatcpa ...does anyone how get such a flatcap or by which firm I can buy it???
