Following a Oviedo Small Ring Mauser through the blueing tanks. Also featuring a Argentine 1909 Large Ring Mauser with a stainless barrel. The bolt is from the Oviedo (Spanish) Mauser which has the handel bent over for scope clearance.

  • nice work, ive been considering setting up my own hot blue tank, but have to admit, its an intimidating project, there is ALOT to this process, or so it seems

  • @duanescot This set up belongs to a friend of mine and let me tell you when you start a blueing session you not to pay attention to all the things going on. You need to know the chemastry of the tamks and the amount of salts in the blue bath. cllean metal to begin with so you dont get spots on your blueing.

  • From the temperature it looks like your Caustic and Nitre blueing, what percentage are you using ? 4/1 or 3/1 mixture of caustic to nitre? also how long will the solution keep in the tank please? I have done a few small items myself but need to set up a larger rig for some rifles.

    Cheers in advance.

  • My boss who runs the shop I used to work at mixes the blueing salts. The blueing setup came from Brownells so may be you can call them to find out the correct mixture.

  • @dantheman7624 Do you allow the blueing fluid to touch the chrome barrle linning?

  • @flatjawspud I have not blued a crome lined barrel but yes I imagine you do as some AR barrels are blued with crome lineing.
