Johnny Ringo was a minor character in the real Tombstone. Not particular good with a gun and certainly no big name. The press made more of him perhaps because they cottoned on to his name and liked it. Nevertheless in this film he is just one of the many characters that make this version brilliant. Much more fun that the drab, boring Kostner vehicle Wyatt Earp. After this scene the Henry V speech in the theatre was terrific and how natural that Curly Bill was the first to applaud it!
