the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, regardless of which hemisphere you're in.

Yes but the suns arc for places like Australia is opposite what it is in America. if you place your panels facing true south in Australia they wouldn't get much sun.

Most solar panels have very strong safety glass and would not be broke by hail.

LaMar, are you able to run the washing machine and dryer off your system now that you have the addition of wind power? You mentioned in this video that you planned to use a generator. I would think you could wait for a sunny and windy day to wash and dry your clothes, or hang clothes out to dry in the warmer months.

Big appliances take a lot of power. I run the washer off a genny and hang my clothes in the summer. They do make smaller apartment W/D that take less power.
