The Silk Road: Asia and The World of Tomorrow
NUS Indian Instrumental Ensemble (NUSIIE)
In collaboration with Prof Kanniks Kannikeswaran
13 Mar, 8pm, UCC Theatre
$16 & $13

An original music score by "The Magic Musician from Madras," Prof Kanniks Kannikeswaran, forms the backbone of this grand musical production. Featuring Indian ragas based on the pentatonic scales common to Indian, Chinese and Indonesian music, NUSIIE will juxtapose the Silk Road of yesteryears against the globalised world of today and a vision for tomorrow.

This powerful performance recreates the story of the Silk Road through a gripping narrative, Indian and western musical ensembles, movement and visuals with guest artists on the Chinese erhu and pipa string instruments
