Jesus teaches the disciples through understanding in the book of Mark. Pierre explores understanding as the central role in the parable, and Jesus' role as a Teacher-Preacher using models of understanding

  • i would argue that most people even today only

understand the liter meanings of physical events.

  • Mark 4:12

How can a Liar perceive the Truth?

How will a pretender be the Real thing?

  • LOL to you, the ancients were not as dumb as you potrray them, in fact the Torah is deeper in spiritual meaning than the Gosspels, if you dont "believe" me, read Maimonides. I am not going to argue with you, just browse..Maimonides was born in the common hera, but he brings out what is within the torah,....BC

  • Jesus came into a world where people at that time only understood the literal meanings of physical events. His stories were meant to transform people's thinking so that they could begin to grasp spiritual truths. Jesus's death on the Cross has to be understood spiritually in order to convey the faith that takes hold of salvation.

  • For one thing, understanding Jesus' parables does not save the soul. What saves the soul is FAITH in the finished work of Christ on the Cross. The parables lead people into understanding the Cross when it comes. That is, the ability to rise above understanding the physical to understanding the spiritual.

  • At 1:57 he makes the statement that if one would go through all the parables in the new testament and was to translate each parable into it's analogy in an overall structure, then one can grasp the idea of the 'Kingdom of God'. Who's parable translations into analogies are we to believe in? Have these already been translated and collected? Why not?

  • At 1:30 through 1:39 (minutes and seconds in the video), Grimes says that parables are intentional to keep the uninitiated from being 'forgiven'. Why would Jesus want that? Does anybody else agree with Grime's in this?

  • There seems to be something missing in his explanation of things or direction (objective) not present enough.

  • analytical way of thinking - thought

  • seems a little groggy on this day!
