  • I soaked the hide in water with alderbark(about 2 weeks). It gave the color. For final touches...after the instrument was done...couple of layers of shellac. But i belive other things should work also. Just dont use anything that prevents the glueing afterwards (oily varnishes etc.)

  • @allakarjallak Thanks! I have only found measurements one other place, on khoomei.com of course, so this is very helpful.

  • @kargyraasinger I´m glad if it helped. If you have any questions more...just ask! And good luck with your build.

  • i belive my scale lenght for the dos..was like 640-670 mm (from nut to nut) and the box was around 300x400 mm. So the overall lenght of the neckpice was around 850-900 mm. If you don`t have anu plans(blueprints) i jugest to drav the overall picture of the instrument 1:1 to paper or something else( i use 3mm plywood) to get the measurements! Aslo if you use plywood you can cut out th esiluet of instrument and get to know ..is it comfortable for you.

  • @allakarjallak thanks so much for the help! i am almost done with my dosh so i will put a video up in a few days

  • what did you use to finish the rawhide? some people say that they just used wood stain. will that work or is there anything special i have to use?

  • How long is the neck with the spike? i am going to build a doshpuluur and i just want to get a general idea of the size of it. also, great job with building this one. it has a sound a lot like an american banjo.
