Both Alien’s director Ridley Scott and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon claimed that they had never seen Planet of the Vampires.

@lasktguy both movies on IMDB make no mention of either, but on Alien site on IMDB does clam that "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" (1958) is an influence.

where is the vampire of this movie?

H. R. Giger is a Swiss painter most noted for his unsettling designs for Ridley Scott’s film Alien. The original alien creature was based on an already existing painting of his called “Necronom IV”.

ridley scott based the horseshoe shaped spaceship, giant skeleton, and alien creature on paintings by H. R. GEIGER. maybe thats who was influenced by this movie. just sayin, maybe

why did they have to blow up the other ship? a classic stupid mistake in movies is when the bad guys hold their weapon at the good guys so close that they can grab it from them. no one would be dumb enough to do that in real life.
Ridley Scott and Dan O'Bannon may claim not to be infuenced by this film when they made "Alien", but the production design is everywhere:
1. Helmets next to the flight chairs.
2. Planet's surface and climate
3. Alien ship
4. Alien ship's interior
5. Giant alien skeletons
6. Ray guns that look like flame throwers
Biggest differences are the space suits and ridiculous amount of wasted space inside the space ships.
