  • Loved her satin voice since I heard it in 1985 and have been hooked since. My only regret is that the luxury of wealth, that which we call leisure came to late to afford me the opportunity to see her in person. So thankful for youtube. One of those voices that with age gets better and better and thanks to youtube will be discovered over and over.

  • @scorpio1961 IM QUITE JEALOUS! IM MISSING A FEW ALBUMS!

  • There is NO body like Dakota . My first album by her was "Crazy He Calls Me " long before my time ,she was a star vocalist but GOOD music and GREAT singers are a cherished few .

I'm 63 now and hearing her sing & ,the thought of my mother are sweet indeed ,since she was the one who introduced me to Dakota Staton .

Thanks Dakota for the lovely memories of my mom and my childhood !

  • I had all her Capitol albums but only when my friend Al Becker took me to see her in person in New York City did I get the full essence of her voice, style, personality and presence. For some reason I'd always assumed that strong, fruity voice had somehow been enhanced in the recording studio. As you can hear here, nope, this is it totally real, no enhancements needed or warranted. She was, above all, an extremely intelligent singer. Her music lives on, thank heavens.

  • She´s gorgeous!!!!

  • Dakota could sing 'Ring around the Rosey' and have me mesmerized! What class and what a Voice. All those great ladies who never got on a stage half-naked to take people's minds off of their voices. Here's to them All. Sarah, Billie, Nancy To my special favorite Gloria Lynne. There will never be a group of singers like you. Thank God for cds. Even jazz stations are dwindling and most of them don't play the classic standards. Does anyone in the NYC area know of a true jazz sta. besides WBGO?

  • Fantastic singer! Great technique, presence, and emotionalism. Love, Dakota Staton (aka Aliyah Rabia) !! RIP, dear lady.

  • @rebel2rebel you mentioned all the ones I love except for Carmen Mccrae and yes Etta Jones was one hell of a jazz singer!

  • great musicians with her. She deserves great respect. Bobby Durham is also gone. Great drummer. Loved you, Dakota, you were a fine singer. So soulful

  • My parents had her albums and I would sing along with her 'A Foggy Day' in London town, it had me low, it had me down... I wished I had seen her in person when she was in Philly. I didn't know!! and she just got better and better!! Beautiful!
