Sixth (and last) part of the 1996 documentary from the Channel-4 series. In this video Richard Dawkins meets people who have experienced the wonders of science first-hand.

We meet the astronomer who first discovered pulsars, the geneticist who invented DNA fingerprinting, a scientist who discovered a protein that causes cancer, and others.

With so many expressing paranormal beliefs and ignorance of science, Dawkins encourages viewers to contrast these ancient superstitions with the power and beauty of our scientific achievements and understanding.

Dawkins interviews famous admirers of science such as Douglas Adams and David Attenborough, and asks them why science means so much to them. We also see how dangerous ignorance of science can be in classrooms, courts, and beyond.

  • Great vids as always with R. Dawkins.

If only more people would watch it... I can't believe there are still morons who can even argue with so many evidences and facts.

Arrrghhh.... It bugs me! I wonder if Dawkins has ever punched somebody on the nose for being so stupid.

I wouldn't resist.... in front of so much dumbness.

    Well, long live science!!!!

  • "I didnt realize my relitives were bacteria..."

    well... it's... it's a start... -.>;

  • @7891midnight Not only that, but compared to the universe, we're so small we practically don't even exist. It's quite amazing. :)

  • Seeing these kids have their interest in science re-kindled drastically replenishes my faith for humanity! XD

  • Great series. Great admirer of Dawkins.

It used to affect me to see blindmindedness in light of evidence. But I understand people are simply protecting beliefs they have been taught which they are not expert in. We all do it.

Evolution seems to be a sound science. I'm no expert but Dawkins is. I'm happy to take his word for it. It in no way discredits inteligent design so it works for me. Might upset some creationists but it does not contravene pure religion, undefiled. It's truth.

  • Why couldn't' have Richard Dawkins come to my school to teach science! That would have been awesome. Instead I got retarded creationism crammed down my throat. Luckily reason prevailed.

  • "I, actually, didn't realize that, um, my ancestors were bacteria. . ." XD

  • Some people may know his wife as the second regeneration of the Time Lady Romana. :D

  • Those kids are about my age or younger.

  • i just realized those kids are older than me. i was 4 when this came out :)

  • What a great science teacher! :)
